“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity... Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. (Joel 2:12-15)

Fasting is an outward expression of sorrow, and separation from ordinary enjoyments, in order to give oneself to prayer and spend time in God’s presence. As we draw near to God especially during fasting; God draws near to us and reveals the hidden things. Strongholds over our lives and the nation shall be broken. As the nations of the world and the church go through unprecedented times and that which we relied upon is shaken to the core, there is no better time to stand in the gap. There is a shifting taking place in the spiritual realm and we are being called to rise up as prayer warriors like never before. As we humbly come before the Lord, weep and mourn for the nations, our God will surely hear and heal our lands.

In this season, God is calling us to take a spiritual viewpoint, to develop his spiritual perspective and vision, to be agents of change in our families, churches, communities, society and the world at large, to be prayer warriors and to walk in our divine assignments and bring in the sheaves of wheat. Behold, the harvest is ready. As we fast, the Lord will embolden us to go into the fields of harvest. Fear, intimidation and societal norms will no longer be a barrier. This is the season of breakthrough. There is a spirit of acceleration over the nations. Watch - for that which took years shall be done instantly. Let us pray that the God's will be done.
